Day 1: Kigali City Tour, Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Have early breakfast and meet your guide who will take you for a city tour in Kigali where you will visit the genocide memorial center at Gisozi. It is an emotional experience for many of the visitors. Thereafter transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park. Being the biggest conservation area in Rwanda. Nyungwe Forest has an array of birds, primates and wildlife. It is famous for its canopy walk where you walk on a bridge in the tree branches close to the animals. The scenery is breathtaking. Located about 6 hours from Kigali, the route is scenic with rolling hills. Have a stopover for hot lunch at Butare before proceeding. On arrival, check in and rest before dinner.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking
Following early breakfast, you will be given packed lunch before you head out in the morning to the tourist center. You will meet the park rangers who will brief you on the rules of tracking chimpanzees. Head out in search of the primates, hiding high up in the thickets. Ensure to bring along binoculars as you may also see a variety of birds. You will return to the lodge in the late afternoon where you will freshen up and rest as you await dinner.
Day 3: Morning Canopy Walk, Departure back to Kigali
After breakfast head out for the highlight of the park, the canopy walk. The thrill of being high up in the trees is something you should experience. The walkway is suspended over 60 meters above the ground meaning you will be closer to the monkeys and birds. This is a true paradise for birders. Return to the lodge for lunch and check out for the journey back to Kigali arriving in the late evening. This will mark the end of your trip with us.
